Robert J. Gibson


Bobby Gibson is a commercial litigator who represents banks, creditors, employers and businesses, both large and small. In addition to his focus on creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, commercial collections, foreclosure and replevin (claim and delivery), Bobby regularly prosecutes and defends contract disputes, real property disputes and probate estate litigation.

His trial practice includes adversary proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, jury and non-jury trials in the state and federal courts located across Arkansas, and appeals to the Arkansas Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Arkansas.  

Bobby is also a transactional lawyer with substantial experience in drafting loan documents, loan workouts, contracts, real estate closing documents, bills of assurance, employee handbooks and settlement and release documents. He assists clients in forming entities for their businesses and corporate compliance.

He has published works on obtaining medical records by clearing HIPAA requirements and has lectured on the relevant considerations of probate as well as advanced issues dealing with credit and bankruptcy issues in the context of real estate law.


Bobby has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Arkansas and earned his juris doctor at the University of Arkansas at LIttle Rock School of Law.


Prior to joining Waddell, Cole & Jones, PLLC in 2000, Bobby conducted a general practice for six years, handling matters in many areas of the law. For 18 consecutive years, he has served as city attorney for various Arkansas municipalities, drafting ordinances and other local legislation and advising the towns’ mayors, council members and department heads regarding the day-to-day affairs of an Arkansas municipality. He also has prosecuted the misdemeanor crimes committed in the city or county he represented, and has represented the municipalities in complex annexation disputes and zoning enforcement litigation.
