W. Curt Hawkins Named Partner

W. Curt Hawkins has been named a partner at Waddell, Cole & Jones, PLLC, the law firm has announced.  Hawkins represents clients in the areas of estate planning, elder law, probate, taxation and commercial transactions.  He has been an associate with the firm since 2010 and was named 2014 Volunteer Attorney of the Year for the 2nd Judicial District by Legal Aid of Arkansas. He is a member of the Arkansas and Craighead County bar associations.

Hawkins received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University, focused on the areas of estate, trust and corporate taxation.  Prior to his LL.M., he earned a Juris Doctorate with honors from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida.  While at St. Thomas, he was a member of the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review, served as a student instructor of property law and supervised the Miami Gardens’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. He holds an undergraduate degree in literature from Lyon College in Batesville, where he received the Sigma Tau Delta Writer of the Year Award.

Hawkins is chairman of the Craighead County Library Board and has served as chairman for the Familie Tiez non-profit and the Northeast Arkansas Professional Advisory Council for the Arkansas Children's Hospital.  He also serves on the United Way Regional Impact Committee, the Ethics Committee for St. Bernards Regional Medical Center, and the Blessed Sacrament School Board.

Hawkins, son of Van and Ruth Hawkins of Jonesboro, is married to Amy Schmidt, daughter of Fred and Angie Schmidt of Jonesboro and assistant professor of English at Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge.
